About Us

Ectomorph from its origins in 1985 has produced design led fetish Fashion working exclusively in latex sheeting. The founder Krystina Kitsis developed a method in which to sew the garments and then reinforce them with glued striping. The garments are structured using tailoring techniques to produce garments that resemble everyday clothing.

There are Biker Jackets, Riding jackets Forties style dresses and flowing skirts to name but a few. These styles can be worn in any location from the streets, in nightclubs, the bedroom , to cafes and restaurants.

Recent collections have featured quilted stitched latex that can be seen in elaborate Biker Jackets for both men and women and several cape and skirt styles that are fully quilted into exaggerated shapes. They continue Krystina’s aim of filtering fashion through fetish.

The new collection ‘Back to Black” takes Ectomorph back to its origins and provides a refreshing departure to the kaleidoscope of colours now available in latex.

Ectomorph Story

Ectomorph was established in 1985 by Krystina Kitsis to merge the boundaries of fetish and high fashion, a relationship that hitherto did not exist. Since that time fetish has gone
from a secret underground subculture to a more visible mainstream consumer product. Ectomorph still sits at the high end of fetish fashion products.

Ectomorph started in 1985 as an experiment, following a meeting between Tim Woodward who had just launched his Skin Two Magazine and Krystina who was designing her first latex collection. Together they started Skin Two Club as an alternative location for the wearing of fetish clothing and the meeting of like-minded people. The opening night in June 1985 at The Embassy Club in Bond Street was where Krystina first Ectomorph collection was unveiled. She felt there was a need for a fresh approach to latex clothing using fashion trends as inspiration.

Subcultures, like Punk had already flirted with fetish paraphernalia and she wanted to take it further. Krystina was fresh out of college, having studied cultural history at the Royal College of Art and written a thesis on the connection between sexuality and fashion that involved research into the history of fetish and its evolution. By adopting a more modern approach , incorporating fashion trends with many of fetish’s intrinsic elements, those of silhouette and detail like straps and studding, Krystina was able to influence the course of an emerging fetish scene.

Using the principles of structuring clothes that she had learned at St Martin’s School of Art, she treated rubber like any other fabric and created structured garments that were sewn and glued, enabling the parameters of what was hitherto available to be extended. Determined to see her collection in the pages of Vogue, she telephoned the fashion editor who swiftly halted her desired rise to fame by informing her that this was, “Not the kind of thing that young gels should be wearing.” It took the foresight of Elle magazine to make history and feature a long rubber sheath dress (Style 130) that was to become an Ectomorph icon that sold all over the world for years.. Vogue then rose to the challenge, featuring the same dress and more features followed.

Ectomorph has not looked back since. After the shocked reception to latex clothing experienced by exhibiting on a stand in fashion week. Krystina decided to make a white rubber collection that white would be to make it more acceptable to the fashion market, not so threatening and its different scent to black rubber made it more appealing.

However, It soon became apparent that it was black that people wanted and so, along with Trevor Watson, an inspirational photographer, Ectomorph produced its first catalogue in black and white. Four more were to follow until the internet became the conventional way in which to purchase garments.

Ectomorph over the years has frequently been featured in prestige magazines, Vogue, Elle, Hunger, Marie Claire, Loaded, Playboy, Skin Two, Sky Magazine, 19, to name but a few. As well as many of the tabloids in the early days. Ectomorph garments figure in promo videos by Snoop Dog, Siouxie & The Banshees and The Cors. Krystina also worked on advertisements for David Bailey.

This year Ectomorph celebrates forty years in the clothing business Krystina is still producing new fetish styles for an expanding market that has differentiated into a number of different sectors. In 2020 Krystina started experimenting with quilting latex and produced a range of garments that feature quilted panels of latex. The range started with small quilted details on men’s waistcoats and then developed into larger more exaggerated shapes in bright colours reflecting fashion trends for volume and block colour.

The current collection is Back to Black as Black firmly remains the favourite colour and seems refreshing again amongst the huge range of colours now available. Men continue to be as visible as women in their desire for fetish clothing which Ectomorph includes amongst the staples in their collections. They will sit alongside new and exciting products that Krystina continues to introduce.
